XML

XML is a document markup language that allows documents and data in general to be written in a format that can be parsed by machines as well as generally understood by humans. It is particularly suited for sharing data over the internet between two different systems that may not share the same data structures used internally. A number of other document specifications, including the browser page markup language xHTML and the RSS and ATOM news feed formats, are based on XML.
