Local Area Network

A Local Area Network is a network that covers a relatively small area. Typical LANs are created with Ethernet or WiFi networking connections, and typically are wholly owned by a single person, group, or company. While they might connect to public (Internet) or private networks owned by others, they do not rely on those connections to get to other devices on the LAN, as opposed to WAN networks, which do.
