The Nokia 6060 is a conventional small clamshell device, similar in specification to the Nokia 7270 but much lighter and more businesslike. You can tell by the model number that the 6060 is a pretty low-end device though, and it offers very little in technological terms, its main appeal being its simplicity and compact design.
At 92 grams this isn't the lightest handset in the world though, but the 85x44x24mm size is pretty compact. The display is a 128x160 pixel TFT unit in 65,000 colours, and the Nokia 6060 has a WAP browser, Java, polyphonics and really that's about it. There's no Bluetooth, camera or even an external display. Talktime is up to 2.5 hours with around 11 days standby time.
Expected to be available from Q3 2005, the Nokia 6060 will cost around 140 euros before subsidy, so this will be a very inexpensive phone.
What is odd is that Nokia have again failed to make a decent, mainstream clamshell phone. Nokia's efforts are generally either too funky (Nokia 7200, 7270), too heavy (Nokia 6260, 7270, N90), too basic (Nokia 6170, 7200, 7270) or just too expensive (Nokia N90 again). When the likes of Motorola and Samsung can churn out decent mid-range clamshells all the time, how come Nokia can't. Still, the Nokia 6060 is a decent looking handset for the price and should sell well to the lower end of the market.
We rather like the Nokia 6111 - it's very much a mainstream handset that will appeal to a large market segment. Estimated availability is Q3 2005 with an unsubsidised price of around 270 euros.
