The Nokia 6708 with its Symbian UIQ gives its users an easy to use touch pad based operating system. The smart phone is a tri-band GSM handset. The UIQ version 2.1 is loaded on the Symbian OS version 7.0 ; in fact this baby will be Nokia's first attempt at making an UIQ phone. The 2.6 inch TFT display shows 65,000 colors and has a 208 x 320 pixel resolution.
The candybar design is one of the easiest to use and the Nokia 6708 looks like it is meant for the corporate consumer. The handset will recognise both English and Chinese handwriting. In addition to the 18 megabytes memory, the handset also has a SD card slot which can accomodate a 2GB card. As for connectivity, the phone is well equipped with Bluetooth, Infrared and USB.
Despite not having a Windows OS ; the business applications that the 6708 will have are simply excellent. MS Office compatible files will work here (Excel , Word being of primary importance for most corporates). The built-in E-mail client supports major commonly used protocols.
