Ringtones in decline?
According to a report by some UK ''consultants,'' the UK ringtone market could dip 20 percent this year. The UK press has somehow named this decline the ''death knell'' for ringtones, which is, of course, ridiculous.
A simple business fact: new markets first experience a period of GROWTH, then reach a state of MATURITY, which is where the UK ringtone market is now. Mature markets grow at lower rates, and in come cases decline due to market CORRECTIONS (in the UK due to misleading ringtone services that forced users into a monthly subscription structure, which artificially inflated ringtone sales levels).
A simple journalism fact: some people make outrageous claims to get press, and it often works.
The only thing crazier that the stupid Crazy Frog ''phenomenon'' is the press it received..
