Nokia 5500 Sport joins the XpressMusic family, gets a makeover

The updated music handset now comes with a microSD card and clips to keep it in place while you're on the move
Nokia today updated its 5500 Sport phone, folding it into the XpressMusic family (which includes the newly released 5300 and 5200 slider phones). The handset retains its ''sport'' feature set, including a splash- and dust- resistant body that comes in a more striking copper and red on black color scheme. It features an integrated pedometer and text-to-speech functions that will read aloud your SMS messages and workout progress to you while you run. Nokia will now be packaging the phone with a 512mb microSD card, as well as an adaptable set of clips to secure the phone to your waist, arm, or even bicycle frame. The phone can track your workout progress and will synchronize your results with your PC. A Bluetooth module, available separately, will allow the phone to keep track of long-distance workouts, such as bicycle tours or cross-country skiing trips. Dedicated buttons switch between phone, music, and sports modes. The music mode plays popular, non-DRM music formats, and Nokia is also including splash-proof headphones to round out the music/sports theme.
